Sharh Usul al-kafi (Commentary upon the Usul al-kafi) , bab of Intellect and Ignorance , Volume 1
The noble book of al-Kafi, written by Muhammed Ibn Ya'qub Kulayni (born in 329 AH), includes more than 16000 hadiths. It supersedes the Shi'ite hadith books in terms of precedence, inclusiveness, number of hadiths and their specific order, authenticity of traditions, and inclusion of divine teachings, ethics, and principles. According to Shaykh Mufid, al-Kafi is one of the greatest and most useful Shi'i books.
Mulla Sadra says, "The best hadiths and words that have been narrated to us from the People of the House of Prophet are included in al-Kafi, written by the noble, distinguished, knowledgeable, and honorable jurisprudent, Muhammed Ibn Ya'qub Kulayni." Because of the value that Mulla Sadra attached to these hadiths, he commented on them from his own point of view which is based on an agreement between the intellect and religion.
From among the 34 parts of al-Kafi, he only managed to comment on a few of them, i.e. part 1 (book of Intellect and Ignorance), part 2 (book of Knowledge), part 3 (book of Oneness), and a section of part 4 (book of Proof). The first volume of Sharh-i usul al-kafi by Mulla Sadra includes commentaries and explanations on 34 hadiths of the book of Intellect and Ignorance of al-Kafi.
This book has been published with edition, research, and Introduction by Ayatullah Reza Ustadi and under the supervision of Professor Seyyed Muhammed Khamenei in 606 pages along with the list of indexes by the Sadra Islamic Philosophy Institute.
